BATTLESONG
2019 //
Rialto Theatre, Brighton
1 of 6 Scratch finalists, voted 2nd overall by the audience

A one act comedy set on the dawn of the morning of Battle of Hastings. Again. Fifteen year old Jack would rather be anywhere than camping with his re-enactment enthusiast family preparing to fight the Battle Of Hastings. Jack wants to be a musician but his dad, the ‘chief’, is a bully who teases him for being ‘soft’. He meets Matilda who also has family problems; she wants to join the battle, but in 1066 girls wielded needles, not swords. An absolutely bonkers comedy about standing your ground, even when its muddy. Voted Audience Favourite 2 of 3 nights at Brighton Rialto, and scheduled for production in 2020.

THE HANDFAST WIFE

2018 // Short story in These Spooky Isles. A collection of ghost stories from around the UK

The Handfast Wife is the true story of Helen Gordon and the Orkney pirate, John Gow.  The pair of lovers were Handfasted at the Odin Stone, a holed, ancient standing stone in Orkney. When Gow was captured and hanged at Wapping Wall for piracy, Helen had to choose between travelling six hundred miles to break the spell by clasping Gow’s dead hand, or live forever haunted by him.
